Drum Rocker - Five Reasons Why the Ion Drum Rocker is Better Than the Stock Rock Band Drum Kit

The Drum Rocker by ION is manufactured by Alesis. Alesis is a one of the biggest manufacturers of electronic drum kits in the whole world. I tell you this to drive home this point: The ION Drum Rocker for Rock Band is a serious piece of equipment. Basically a REAL electronic drum kit specifically designed for Rock Band (it also works on Guitar Hero World Tour). Here are five reasons why the ION Drum Rocker is better than the stock Rock Band drum kit.

#1 -- More Realistic:

Like I mentioned above, the ION kit is manufactured by Alesis, which is one of the biggest manufacturers of electronic drum kits in the world. Obviously, they know how to create a realistic drum kit. Their expertise and dedication to this project created a much more realistic drumming experience than the stock Rock Band drum kit.

When you're playing drums with the stock kit-you know you're merely playing on a toy. But with the ION Drum Rocker-you are a bona fide "Rock Star"!

#2 - More Adjustable:

The stock drum kit just sits there. Two poles. 4 pads. Couple feet and a couple legs. Not very adjustable. Very FIXED, in fact.

The ION Drum Rocker is the opposite. Adjustable almost to a fault. While you can get to know the stock kit like the back of your hand in a few minutes. The ION Drum Rocker has a bit of a learning curve. This is because it is SO adjustable--position your snare, tom and cymbal pads wherever you want.

#3 - More Durable:

Do you own a stock Rock Band drum kit? How many? I always have to ask that second question because I talk to so many people that are on their second kit...or third...or fourth...or fifth. I kid you not!

With the stock kit, the pads can just stop working at any time. This is because of poor construction "under the hood". There are a couple different companies out there that sell "kits" to fix your kit. Sad.

If your pads are still working, you're lucky. Now, how are they looking? I've had two Rock Band 2 drum kits, both of them suffered from the famous "bubbling". The top material (which is a thin plastic) just starts to bubble up. Not only does it not look good (definitely not what a Rock Star would be using), but it also interferes with your play. And thus your score. Ouch.

With the ION kit the pads are made of high-impact plastic, designed specifically to be whacked night after night. It doesn't matter how much you punish them, the Drum Rocker drum pads can take it.

#4 - Features Ultra-Quiet, Velocity Sensitive Pads:

There are several advantages that the Drum Rocker's pads will bring you. First, they are much quieter. The material they use are just a quieter material. It's that simple. They also feel much better. I know "feel" is a very subjective word. But they do. The way the sticks rebound off of the pad is much more natural and consistent than anything else available.

The ION kit's pads are velocity sensitive. With the stock kits, a hard hit is treated exactly the same as a soft hit. But in real life, a hard hit is way different than a soft hit. Well, the Drum Rocker once again mimics real life. The velocity sensitive pads can sense how hard you hit them.

#5 - Can Feature Up To Three Cymbals:

Can you imagine finishing an epic fill by whacking a crash cymbal? Or perhaps doing a little cross over to play your hi hat with your right hand while keeping the backbeat on the snare with your left hand?

The ION Drum Rocker lets you do that and a whole lot more. The standard Drum Rocker kit comes with two cymbals that can be placed anywhere around the kit. You can decide for yourself how you want to use them. As a hi-hat/crash, crash/ride or hi-hat/ride combination.

To round out the kit, you can also purchase an additional cymbal, bringing the grand total to 3.
